April 18, 2008
the LaSalle Parish Special Olympics were held at
Jena
High School
. Even though it was a rainy day; the participants, along with the staff had a
wonderful time and were challenged by all of the activities. There were many
challenges such as the soft ball or tennis ball through, the stand-still long
jump, the 25m and 50m walk and the 25m, 50m, and 100m run. There were many first
place winners that day, but in our eyes, they were all winners, no matter what
their placement. At the completion of the athletic competitions, everyone was
treated to hotdogs/chilidogs, chips, cookies and a drink. When the final race
was run, every child was acknowledged as a winner because of the way they
conducted themselves through out the day. We are very proud of our J.E.S.
participants. Way to go!

Adam proudly shows off his
first place medal.
